The article brings up some weird possibilities, but I do agree it's reassuring. A live-action Minecraft movie is absurd. I would have bought into an animated version geared towards kids and has a few chuckles for adults... A live-action is going to be like Battleship or better yet
Minesweeper: The Movie
.

Also, I don't want to sign into Games for Windows (or whatever they're calling it now) to play Minecraft if that's what they mean by unification.

Yeah, I'm just trying to imagine how they could make a live-action film without it being like that. ^

Perhaps my filmic imagination is just not up to snuff.

I can't see it as a serious movie, but as a comedy running along the same lines as, say, Mogworld or Wreck-It Ralph (or the Lego Movie, come to that, just without the blocks), I can see potential. You could even do a split real world/game world tale, a little like the third Gamers film but with the emphasis switched.

Hmm. Interesting ideas there.

Come to think of it, one of the reasons the POTC film worked for me was the heavy emphasis on comedy.

Going serious probably would be a mistake.

But then some wise guy will bring up the failure of Super Mario Bros. and the film execs will panic and go do something stupid. Stupid like hire Michael Bay.

I am morbidly curious to see what Michael Bay would do with creepers.

New Minecraft update. Looks pretty slick! Does the server update automatically? In any case the end might need to be restarted.

! No longer available

I really, really love the gliding. And horse lag is supposed to be fixed now.

We use boats a lot and I'm really hoping this is a vast improvement. It's a damned big update and we are looking forward to it with great anticipation.

Oh, hey guys! Long time no see.

Yes, BM and I have been looking forward to this update. I haven't spent all that much time on the server lately, outside of the occasional weekend jaunt with BM (and sometimes rae!), but this motivates me to get back in there and complete a project I started a while back. It should actually fit nicely with the new update.
